1. Machine Features

Horizontal Boring Mill WFT 13 represents the newest technology and concept of table type horizontal borers that are currently on the market. Powerful headstock, high axial forces and precise table fulfill the needs of most demanding customers.

Because of this modern design, Horizontal Boring Mill WFT 13 is a universal boring and milling machine that allows efficient processing of large and heavy workpieces while conserving high precision and quality of the operation.

Modern control systems (Heidenhain iTNC 530 or Fanuc 32i) provide very comfortable manipulation of the machine and many useful functions for the user. Horizontal Boring Mill WFT 13 offers 5 axes travel (X, Y, Z, W and B). Given additional optional accessories, it is possible to perform continuous B-axis rotation (machining) simultaneously with X, Y, Z or W axes.

During the metal processing, the column of the machine adopts Z-axis movement and the workpieces are clamped on a rotary table that travels in X-axis.

2. Machine Design

Machine WFT 13 consists of the widest casted column on the market. The headstock is fabricated from ductile iron and adds rigidity for extended W-axis machining operations. FEM (Finite Element Method) has been applied on the whole machine design. Achieved rigidity allows heavy metal chip removal.

Modular design lets our customers configure the machine to their requirements, including X-axis travel from 1500 to 3500 mm, Y-axis travel from 1700 to 2500 mm.

Other features such as linear scales Heidenhain (option), spindle thermal monitoring system (standard) and no-slip stick rotary table contribute to the high degree of accuracy.

3. Spindlebox

WFT 13 is equipped with a standard boring mill live spindle. The spindlebox provides an adjustable mounting platform for a variety of attachments such as angle heads, support spindle sleeves, facing heads, etc.

The spindlebox is driven by servo drive (SIEMENS / Fanuc). The two-speed automatic gearbox gives enough torque for heavy metal chip removal and powerful high-speed drilling. Fermat machines are also capable of high-performance manufacturing due to the spindle axial force of 30,000 N.

Rigid Y-axis ball screw (80 mm), rigid column and powerful headstock are further contributing to the precision and rigidity of the machine.

4. Rotary Table

Rotary table consists of three main parts - bed, slide, rotary clamping plate - which are all of a robust X-braced castings. The clamping plate lies on cross roller taper bearing resistance that secures high load capacity up to 15,000 kg with minimal passive resistances. The rotary movement of the table is provided by two pinions. Standard equipment is two pinions system with one servomotor. Option is two pinion system with 2 servomotors for continuous B-axis machining.
